Follow the Queen to Rome

Follow the queen to Rome

Her Majesty The Queen will be heading to Rome this Spring to visit the new Pope Francis and if you want to follow the Queen to Rome, Italy specialist Citalia has short-breaks to the city from £325.

Buckingham Palace made the announcement about the visit earlier this week and the Queen will be visiting the Italian capital with Prince Phillip in April – it will be the first time the Monarch has met the Pope since his election early last year.

The one day visit, scheduled for the 3 April 2014, will see the Queen and her husband visit the Italian capital at the invitation of the President of Italy, President Napolitano. The visit had been scheduled for last year but was postponed as Her Majesty was unwell.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will first visit the presidential palace where they will attend a private lunch hosted by the President. Following this they will head to the Vatican City for an audience with His Holiness Pope Francis.

With a new and seemingly unconventional Pope in power, interest in the iconic city of Rome is particularly high. The Queen’s visit is likely to create even more of an electric atmosphere, making it the perfect time to visit the city and soak up the unique culture.

For those looking to be part of this historic event, Citalia has short breaks to Rome from just £325 per person during the Queen’s visit. The offer, departing 1 April 2014, includes three nights B&B at the three star Hotel San Remo in Rome and return flights from London Gatwick with Easyjet.
