Just what you need to keep the kids happy – a games room. Unique Cottages has a selection of family-friendly properties this February half-term complete with games rooms and set in areas with lots of outdoor activities such as walking, riding and golf.

They include Fagus Lodge, set in 19 acres of landscaped gardens and woods – stretching to the shores of Loch Nan Uamh – near Arisaig on Scotland’s glorious west coast. The three-bedroomed property – set in woodland and built on the upside down principle to make the most of the loch views – sleeps six and enjoys shared use of a games room with pool table and table tennis and an outdoor tennis court. The grounds are also home to Arisaig House, a superb mansion converted into a luxurious guest house where you can arrange to dine. Seven nights at half term costs £425.

In the Scottish Borders, Whitmuir Steading Cottage – between Melrose and Selkirk – is a luxury holiday cottage (sleeping four), furnished with traditional pieces and full of character. The large sitting and dining rooms both have open fires and upstairs there is an impressive games room with pool table (above) and TV for computer games. Seven nights from £365.

For large groups of friends – or a couple of families – Kinlochfollart on the shores of Loch Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye – is the ideal choice. This spacious house, a former manse, sleeps 10 in eight bedrooms and, in addition to a games room with pool table, also has a music room with grand piano. Seven nights from £795.

Available for weeks starting from February 9 or 16. Click here to book with www.unique-cottages.co.uk
