You don’t have to go all the way to France to enjoy fine wine.
Three Choirs Vineyard in Gloucestershire is one of England’s most awarded single estate wine producers, a real British success story.
The vineyard now offers wine tours that give visitors the chance to see how fine English wine is produced while enjoying breathtaking views of the vine-clad valley (above).
And you can make a holiday of it with an overnight stay in one of the vineyard’s eight hotel rooms or three luxury lodges. There’s also an award-winning restaurant serving a menu of seasonal and local produce.
The chief winemaker Martin Fowke has twice been awarded UK Winemaker of the Year.
There’s more to a visit than wine too. Gloucester Cathedral, famously featured in the Harry Potter films, which is free entry and has a daily evening song is close by, as are the historic Gloucester docks, now a vibrant centre of museums and shops.
