Guide to airline ski equipment fees

airline ski equipment fees

Snow’s started to fall across Europe and many of the major ski resorts opened this weekend – but the cost of taking your own equipment can be as expensive as the flight itself. So we’ve teamed up with Skyscanner to bring a handy guide to who charges what when it comes to airline ski equipment fees.

Airline policies towards the carriage of ski equipment can vary significantly, with some airlines including ski equipment as part of the standard baggage allowance, while others charge a set fee, meaning the cost can range £0 to £140, in addition to the air fare.

Low fares airlines charge up to £50 each way for carrying skis or snowboards, with Jet2 offering the cheapest at £25. While the traditional airlines usually offer the option of including skis and snowboards in the free hold baggage allowance, there is a weight limit, which if exceeded can mean excess baggage fees up to £140 can be accrued.
