Posh Oxfordshire foodie hotel  Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons (above) has launched a ‘lucky in 2013’ break for this year, aimed at combatting those with a fear of the number 13.

Raymond Blanc’s Oxfordshire mansion is offering guests the chance to stay overnight on a B&B basis and receive a bottle of champagne and chocolates thrown in for £645 per double room.

With reports of brides prolonging engagements and nuptials as they’re suspicious of the number 13, the hotel is bucking the trend with a record number of wedding and honeymoon bookings – with two to four booked a week for most of the year.

The hotel’s director general manager Philip Newman-Hall said: “It’s very encouraging to see that we are bucking the trend when it comes to superstitious beliefs – proving that 2013 is going to be a bumper year for nuptials.  Did you know, for example, that in Mandarin, the number 13, means ‘definitely vibrant’ or ‘assured growth’?!”
