Learn how to survive the wild with one of Bear Grylls’ best pals, find the essential guide to Everest Base Camp and get the lowdown on this year’s festival scene at this year’s TNT Travel Show.

The above are just a few of the 20 free seminars on offer at the show, held at the Business Design Centre in Islington over March 9-10. And tickets are free for the first 3,500 visitors each day who pre-register at tnttravelshow.com.

Scott Heffield (above), lead instructor at the Bear Grylls Survival Academy (www.beargryllssurvivalacademy.com), will be taking to the stage on Sunday, March 10, at 10.45am. Having worked closely with Bear Grylls for four years, Heffield will be offering expert advice on survival in extreme environments.

“People talk about deserts, jungles, mountains, oceans and extremes such as high humidity, extreme heat or cold such as the Arctic and Antarctic,” he said.

“These are undoubtedly extreme environments, and I have experienced them all. However, any environment can become super-challenging in various circumstances – high winds, flash flooding or being unprepared or simply caught out.

“Think mountain days when weather changes in seconds, ocean travel when sea states suddenly swell to enormous walls of water and flash flooding when the smallest river can become a raging torrent.”

With 12 free travel seminars on Saturday, March 9, and eight on Sunday, March 10, there’s something at the show for most travellers.

The Saturday programme includes Zoe Craig from Visit London on secret places to visit in the capital; Sameh Nazeeh of Encounters on post-revolution Egypt; Karl Bolton of edge on adventures in Iceland; and Helen Elfer, TNT Magazine travel editor, on off-the-beaten-track holidays in China.

The Sunday line-up includes Dan Wedgwood of The Adventurists on “ridiculous, slightly irresponsible, massive adventures”; blogger reclaimingmyfuture.com Toni White on solo travel and what it means on the road and between the sheets; and thetravellingeditor.com Dylan Lowe on making social media a platform for your travels.
