Leave their tablets at home! Novotel hotels introduces toy chests for kids

Worried your kids are spending too long looking at a screen? Even on a break away, too many children have their heads in a tablet or mobile.

Novotel hotels aim to help parents change that by introducing a treasure chest of fun activities and games – from classics like Guess Who and Fuzzy Felt to award-winning games including Kingdomino and Bananagrams.

Novotel hotels have installed the Toy Chests across the UK this summer for kids of all ages to enjoy. In addition,  there is also a huge train table from Smyths Toys with 100 play elements for kids to create their own stories as well as an easel for small folks to unleash their creativity.

Already known for offering family-friendly accommodation, the “Make Time to Play” toy chest, found within the hotels’ dedicated Kids Corners, is the latest addition to the hotel’s child-friendly philosophy.

Stephanie Rowe, UK Head of Marketing for Novotel, says: “We would all like to find some extra time in our busy lives to bond with our loved ones. At Novotel we are all about Time Well Spent and for many of our family guests quality time centres around holiday times and play – we wanted to encourage and inspire that.”

TOY CHEST: Full of goodies to encourage children to play at Novotel hotels

The Toy Chests have been curated and installed by the Toyologists at Toyology, a start-up dedicated to bringing analogue play into spaces across the UK.

Peter Jenkinson, Chief of Play at Toyology, says: “We’re huge proponents of analogue play, the creativity it unleashes just cannot be beaten. Of course many playthings come with rulebooks but watching kids go off-piste and create their own play patterns and how they collaborate with each other is an utter joy.

“Bringing the Toy Chests to Novotel hotels across the UK gives kids and families visiting from across the country or further afield the space, time and inspiration to engage in creative play and space quality time together, whatever the weather.”
