October half-term holidays boost

October half-term holidays

It seems we are taking no chances on the sun shining next time the kids are off school. Searches for October half-term holidays abroad have shot up by 44 per cent, according to Lowcostholidays.com with overall bookings up nearly a third on last year already. Top destinations include Tenerife, Orlando and the Algarve.

MD Tim Buckman said, “It seems that the end of our great sunny weather has driven customers to look for a guaranteed sunshine break during the half-term week before winter really arrives. Our top selling holiday destinations for half term are Tenerife, Majorca, Lanzarote and the Algarve. City breaks are also big sellers for the October break with Rome, Marrakech and Barcelona proving most popular.”

Winter sun bookings are also on the increase with overall winter bookings up 35% year on year.  Top selling winter destinations include Mexico, Florida, Dubai, Egypt and Lanzarote.  With great value prices for early booking, searches for winter sun holidays are up 48% month on month and bookings for Christmas and New Year departures are also strong.

“Many customers delayed their holiday plans to enjoy the great weather that we had in the UK this summer,” added Tim, “Now that autumn is arriving, there are some fantastic deals on flights and hotels making it a great time to get away and enjoy warm weather at prices on average 10% below the same time last year.”
