Great British Bake Off chef Paul Hollywood has chosen a Scottish stately home for one of his new TV show locations.

The master baker and judge visited Hopetoun House near Edinburgh to film an episode about game for his BBC Daytime series Pies and Puds, starting next month.

Paul cooked up Hopetoun Raised Game Pie, using rabbit, pheasant and partridge which all came from the gamekeepers at the grand estate in South Queensferry. The team from the farm shop are also features – tasting the pies.

The series sees Paul scour the length and breadth of the UK, as he searches for traditional local recipes and delves into the stories and heritage behind them. He said: “This programme is about our affection for straightforward, honest food. Pies and puddings really sum up the strengths of our culinary culture – there’s something about a home-baked pie or simple steamed pud that warms the cockles of your heart like nothing else. It’s good food simply made and above all delicious.”
