Become an underground – or should that be an underwater? – DJ by honing your mixing skills in the Maldives.
The Niyama by Per Aquum resort, home to the Subsix underwater nightclub (above), has teamed up with the DJ Dispensary to offer a luxury retreat for budding DJs.
The DJ Dispensary Retreat held from April 11-18 includes morning group tutorials, afternoon one-on-one lessons, understanding progression timelines from 7” records of the 1970s to the mp3s used today, a beach screening of the documentary, ‘Maestro’, which chronicles the early years of the New York City underground DJ/Dance club culture and daily sunset gatherings.
At the end of the week, guests get to perform a solo set in either Subsix or Fahrenheit, the island’s other night club.
