Safe to Explore Egypt again

Egypt

Adventure travel experts Explore have re-opened bookings on 10 tours to Egypt, following recent changes to travel advice by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

The eight revised itineraries and two unchanged itineraries mean that groups and families can now travel back in to Aswan (above), Luxor and the Red Sea region next year – areas now confirmed safe to visit by the FCO.

While FCO advice now also allows travel to Cairo, restrictions still remain for travel along the Nile Valley between Cairo and Luxor. So, Explore have revised eight of their tours that previously travelled through this region, replacing an overnight train journey with an evening flight from Cairo to Aswan.

MD Ashley Toft said: “The safety of our customers is paramount to every tour we operate at Explore – which is why we chose to cancel all our tours to Egypt earlier this year. Following the latest FCO travel advice however, we are confident that the areas of Egypt on our itineraries are now safe to travel to.

“From exploring the famous Pyramids, to riding camels through the desert, snorkelling in the Red Sea, visiting ancient temples and cruising down the Nile in a felucca, there is so much to enjoy in Egypt. With a short flight time from the UK, as well as excellent weather, it makes for an incredible holiday destination. We’re delighted to be able to take customers back again next year.” Mr Toft added that Explore will continue to monitor FCO advice and avoid all travel through the Nile Valley until it is advised safe to do so.

Packages include a seven-day ‘Highlights of Egypt’ tour including discovering underground tombs, travelling by a horse-drawn carriage to visit ancient temples and riding camels into the desert. Price from £1,026 per adult and £908 per child including flights.
