Stay in Chris Froome’s room

Chris Froome's room

Inspired by the upcoming Tour de France? You can now stay in Chris Froome’s room, where last year’s Le Tour winner and Team Sky rider stayed ahead of the 2012 Olympics.

The room is at the Foxhills hotel and Resort in Surrey – the 400-acre privately-owned resort near Woking where Froome, Sir Bradley Wiggins and the rest of Britain’s cycling squad stayed before bringing home the medals in the London 2012 Games.

The hotel has now launched a two-night Velo package for those looking to add some professional gloss to a cycling break.

It offers four different-level cycling itineraries following sections of the Olympic  route through the Surrey countryside, and those staying over a weekend can also join a Sunday morning guided cycle ride.

Pre-ride breakfasts can include recommendations from British Cycling’s head nutritionist and visitors receives a goodie bag containing a water bottle, high-energy snack, Olympic Road Race Route Map and an Elemis Muscle Soak for soothing aching limbs.

There is also a health club three golf courses, four swimming pools and a spa where the female team GB riders got Union Jack nails.

Sir Dave Brailsford said Foxhills was chosen by the cycling team because of its facilities. “With the golf, swimming pools and the gym, you felt like you were in an athletic environment but in a very nice retreat setting with great facilities to continue to train”.

Available year-round, the two-night package costs £270 per person sharing a double room with breakfast and all cycling activities. Serious fans can request to stay in the same room as their particular hero for no extra cost. Non-cycling partners pay £220 and there is a £50 per night supplement for singles occupying a double room.
