The Vamps open park’s new thrill ride

The Vamps

Pop band The Vamps yesterday opened Drayton Manor Theme Park’s new thrill ride, Air Race.

The teen heart-throbs – Bradley Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans – were among the first to ride the £1.2 million attraction. They then performed some of their hit songs including Somebody To You, Can We Dance and Cecilia, ahead of their debut ‘Meet The Vamps’ headline tour later this year.

Air Race has six, four-seater aeroplane carriages and riders experience banks, loops, dives and accelerations of almost 4G. It is the latest addition to the existing line-up of exhilarating rides at the Staffordshire-based park, including Maelstrom, G-Force, 54-metre tower drop, Apocalypse, and Europe’s only stand-up rollercoaster, Shockwave.

Colin Bryan, CEO of Drayton Manor Theme Park, said: “The Vamps really helped bring the event to life with a fantastic acoustic performance, making this something that will be remembered for years to come.”
