Travel April fools – the true story

gameofthrones

Those of you who took part in yesterday’s Travel April Fools vote will no doubt be wanting to know which was the real story… and the answer is… the Game of Thrones Afternoon Tea at the Ballygally Castle hotel in Northern Ireland. Yes, it’s true – you can settle down in front of the fire to Dothraki Trifle with mini Dragon’s eggs!

The stories well and truly had you fooled though – with just 5.2 per cent of the voters picking the Kings Landing-themed meal as being real. If you did so, give yourself a pat on the back as one of Your-Hols.com’s travel super sleuths.

Which were the stories most of you thought were true? Well they tied neck and neck, and were both in France. One was Leger Holidays offering abseiling trips down the Eiffel Tower, the other was Avalon Waterways’ painting the River Seine red, white and blue to celebrate Bastille Day. They took 30.2 and 28.1 per cent of the vote respectively.

The one’s that didn’t even register? No one was hoodwinked by Canadian Affairs’ shaggy monster story about Nessie being spotted in Canada, seeing the new Royal Baby thanks to Attraction Tickets Direct, or specialist smoker-only weekends at Marrackech’s Riad Africa… they all got no votes!

Thanks for taking part
