Ride backwards on UK’s first winged coaster

THE SWARM backwards (2)

Thorpe Park reopens on March 14 with a thrilling twist to its new rollercoaster The Swarm – now billed as The Swarm SDRAWKCAB. The last two rows of the UK’s first winged coaster now face backwards so you can ride the coaster in reverse.

Passengers will get to choose from front or backwards-facing seats before spinning 180° and plunging 127ft towards the wing of a genuine plane wreckage. Leaving no time to recover, THE SWARM then hurtles towards a terrifying new near-miss, ripping through the mangled metal of a devastated billboard before taking riders within inches of rotating helicopter blades and a flaming fire truck.

The park is also opening its first hotel in March. From March 28, guests can go from dream to scream in 60 seconds as ‘portable’ hotel The Crash Pad opens. Guests get an overnight stay, two days on the park and breakfast.
