Travelodge boss gets bed making world record

Andrea Warner by bed

A Travelodge hotel manager has set the world record for the time needed to make a bed.

Nimble-fingered Andrea Warner made the king size bed in just 74 seconds – after honing her technique making 120,000 beds.

Andrea Warner  has worked for Travelodge since 2001 at Wellingborough Travelodge in Northamptonshire and makes a staggering 10,000 beds a year.

To fulfil the strict guidelines set by Guinness World Record officials, Andrea undertook the challenge in the hotel’s Bar Café area with an audience of 200 people. The world record attempt was adjudicated by three official timekeepers from the Amateur Football Alliance with four independent witnesses and stewards. Andrea dressed the king size Travelodge Dreamer bed in 74 seconds by:

  • Fitting a sheet on the mattress
  • Covering a king size duvet with cover and fastening six poppers and then placing the duvet over the sheet
  • Covering two pillowcases and placing the pillows on the bed
  • Adding a bed runner over the duvet.

Andrea Warner said: “Not in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would set a brand new Guinness World Record. I love my job and I take great pride to ensure all the beds in my hotel are immaculately dressed for each customer. Making a bed is second nature for me.

“My personal best for making a bed is just 58 seconds but it was not an officially recorded effort. Making a bed in front of crowd of 200 people is very nerve racking but I am ecstatic to have set a brand new Guinness World Record for making a king size bed in 74 seconds.”
