Walk with dinosaurs on the Isle of Wight

Isleofwight

The UK’s dinosaur capital, the Isle Of Wight has just launched an app that allows you to photographed with the fierce creatures on the island.

Launched as part of the campaign to promote the release of Walking with Dinosaurs: The 3D Movie, the app brings dinosaurs back to life thanks to the augmented reality app.

The app can be downloaded from anywhere but comes to life on the island itself on a new Dinosaur Trail. The trail features six meteorites, which hug the Island’s southern coastline at fossil locations between Yaverland, Sandown and The Needles.

Visitors who have downloaded the Walking with Dinosaurs App can point their tablet or Smartphone at the meteorite and take pictures of their friends and family standing alongside dinosaurs that roamed the Isle of Wight 130 million years ago.

Each meteorite features a different dinosaur, from land dinosaurs in the forests at Bonchurch, to Pterodactyls which fly above visitors’ heads over the cliffs at Blackgang Chine. The app also allows pictures to be shared on Twitter and Facebook.

To get there Great Wight Day’s Out from Red Funnel start at £8.60 per passenger (minimum of two people) or from £37.50 for a car and up to seven passengers. Visitors booking online will receive an email link to download the FREE Walking with Dinosaurs app before leaving home and the chance when booking to obtain a voucher for children to receive a FREE ice lolly onboard the ferry.
