Which country is top Easter hotspot?

We may get less euros for our money, but it’s not stopping Brits heading for hotspot Spain. It’s the top destination for holidaymakers treating themselves to an eggstra special Easter despite sterling reaching a 16-month low against the euro last week – meaning in-resort costs will be higher. A Skyscanner survey also has France and Italy among the top choices.

The fact we are getting less dollars to the pound doesn’t seem to bother people either. America comes second in the poll below. From flights searches, Skyscanner predicts 1.5 million holidaymakers will jet out of the UK this Easter with 58 per cent of families saying they are determined to get away this year regardless of their financial situation. And 40 per cent plan to spend more money on their holidays.

Skyscanner expects March 29 to be the most popular date for travelling travel, with London airports the busiest. For those yet to book their Easter getaway, Skyscanner data shows good availability for flights to many destinations in Spain, with return flights available for less than £150.

Spokeswoman Victoria Bailie said: “It’s interesting to see that the wider economic issues are having little impact on British holiday choices, suggesting that destination comes first and cost second. Our data shows that British families are as determined as ever to jet off to their favourite destinations, rather than seeking out cheaper alternatives where their pounds will stretch further.”
