Travellers, families and groups can save up to 78 per cent in some of Europe’s most expensive ski destinations by staying in a holiday rental.
TripAdvisor, featuring more than 500,000 holiday rental properties around the world, has unveiled its annual TripIndex Ski which identifies the most expensive and affordable ski destinations in Europe for the current season.
Now TripAdvisor is telling you how to make some of the priciest destinations more affordable – those looking for a ‘home from home’ experience can opt for a holiday rental, saving them thousands of pounds on accommodation costs in ski destinations like Courchevel, Meribel and Gstaad.
The new research looks at the average weekly cost of two rooms in a hotel, as well as the average weekly cost of a two-bedroom holiday rental in each destination. It shows the biggest savings can be found in Meribel, where travellers opting for a holiday rental can save 78% on accommodation costs, followed by Courchevel and St Anton at 74%.

TripAdvisor’s James Kay said: “Holiday rentals are a great option for ski holidays, when travellers tend to go away in large groups for an extended break. The destinations in this list are well-known as some of Europe’s most expensive, but choosing a holiday rental can make them much more affordable.”
