Bookings have opened for one of 2013’s most anticipated hotels: Sir Richard Branson’s new safari lodge, Mahali Mzuri in Kenya.

The lodge, which is set to open this summer is situated in the Motorogi Conservancy in the Maasai Mara. Some 240km west of Nairobi, the camp will consist of 12 sleeper tents catering for 24 guests. Nightly rates at the camp will start from $590 (£370) per person per night, including all meals, drinks and daily game drives, as well as unlimited access to the Olare Orok and Motorogi Conservancies.

Wild animals roaming the Kenyan plains include wildebeest, elephants, zebra, lions (above), leopards, cheetah, giraffe, and gazelles. On a typical game drive at Mahali Mzuri guests may also spot buffalos, topi (antelope  native to this area only), hippopotamus, warthogs and hyenas.

Guests who book August stays before February 28 will be able to take advantage of a free night – the offer is available for stays of four nights or more.

Jon Brown, Managing Director of Virgin Limited Edition, said: “We are very excited to announce that Mahali Mzuri will be open from this summer. It’s a fantastic time to be opening as it coincides with the world-famous Great Migration so guests will have a front row seat!

“With such a beautiful and serene setting, Mahali Mzuri will undoubtedly offer a unique African experience like no other.”
