There’s another chance to visit Everest Base Camp on its 60th anniversary. World Expeditions has added a special departure so that you can be there on May 29 – the 60th anniversary of the first ascent to the world’s highest mountain.

Traditionally the trekking season in Nepal ends towards the beginning of May. But due to the high-profile anniversary and increased customer requests, World Expeditions is offering an extra departure on May 19 for its Everest Base Camp and Kala Pattar trip. You’ll take in panoramic views of the Himalaya range and experience the historic route to the base of the peak.

Gordon Steer, of World Expeditions, said: “When World Expeditions launched offering some of the very first trekking holidays in Nepal, no one would have imagined that one day the Everest Base Camp trek would become such an iconic, almost mainstream destination for adventure travellers. Even though it is unusual to offer trips to the Himalaya beyond the beginning of May, the last few weeks we have had such strong interest that, although last minute, we decided to add an extra departure to help make come true the dream of anyone wishing to celebrate the occasion by getting up, close and personal with the world’s highest mountain.”

The 18-day trip from Kathmandu departs May 19 and finishes on June 5. Accommodation includes World Expeditions’ exclusive permanent campsites. Price from £1,295 per person, excluding international flights.
