DJ Edith Bowman turns to pop-corn!

Edith Bowman

Here’s radio DJ Edith Bowman tasting a different kind of pop-corn. The presenter was launching BA’s Silent Picturehouse which is returning to a London venue this summer. Travel-inspired films – with the sound on personal headsets just like on a plane – will be shown each night between July 22-26 with kids’ Disney movies on during the day.

Favourites on five giant screens include James Bond hit Skyfall, Jaws, The Beach and Top Gun. Disney films for children include Up, Cars 2, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, Oz the Great and Powerful, The Muppets and a preview clip of the upcoming release of Planes.

Edith said: “I was involved in the very first Silent Picturehouse in 2010, and I’m delighted that British Airways is bringing it back. Watching films is one the great pleasures of flying, and bringing this experience to the ground promises to be a lot of fun. It’s also a great event to take your kids along to during the summer holidays, showing everyone’s favourite Disney films during the day.”

BA’s Abigail Comber said: “Silent Picturehouse is back by popular demand, and this time we’ve extended it to a week including a daytime kids’ cinema. There’s something for everyone, with movies ranging from blockbuster hits to all-time classics. The unique concept brings the in-flight entertainment experience to life, making you feel like you’ve travelled the world from your seat!”

Tickets start from £7.50 and include entry to the screening rooms, plus food and drink. Bookings can be made at www.ba.com/silentpicturehouse from Monday June 24.
