Emirates’ new gems for 2013

Emirates Tours, specialists in tailor-made luxury holidays, has launched its 2013 brochure with 26 new properties in Dubai and the UAE, Oman, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia.

They include the Banyan Tree Al Wadi, (above) in Ras Al Khaimah, a peaceful, all pool-villa retreat in the Wadi Khadeja desert; Six Senses Con Dao, Vietnam, recently opened in the remote Con Dao National Park; Soneva Kiri, Koh Kood, Thailand, one of Emirates Tours’ most exclusive offerings in the region, and Gaya Island Resort, Malaysia, a brand new private island resort only reached by a 15-minute speedboat transfer from Borneo.

Following the introduction of Emirates’ service from Dubai to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos are now in the new brochure. Burma completes the Far East portfolio, flying via Bangkok with a short onward flight to Rangoon.

Exclusive tours include Classic Vietnam, a 10-night privately guided tour taking in the “old Saigon” with its French colonial heritage and the tunnels created by the Viet Cong at Cu Chi. The itinerary also includes the colonial quarter of Hanoi, the ancient temples and pagodas of Hue, the traditional trading port of Hoi An and a relaxing cruise along the Halong Bay where sleepy fishing villages and dramatic caves are waiting to be discovered. Price from £1,855 per person.

The 13-night Vietnam & Cambodia Odyssey includes the sights from Classic Vietnam with the addition of Cambodia. The town of Siem Reap will act as the base from which to explore this fascinating country. Sights such as Angkor Wat, the jewel of the Khmer empire and Beng Mealea, a temple hidden in the jungle. The privately-guided tour will also take in the floating settlement of Tonle Sap Lake. Price from £2,569.
