Flybe’s ginger flight record attempt took off today – and got the ‘Royal’ seal of approval when a Prince Harry look-a-like joined other flame-haired passengers on the Inverness to Amsterdam flight.

The airline was attempting to break an unofficial record for the number of redheaded passengers on a flight – all off to join a Dutch festival that celebrates rather than berates those with ginger hair.

Aside from the passengers, the pilots and cabin crew were also redheads and on-board refreshments were appropriately themed, with alcoholic ginger beer courtesy of Ginger Grouse.

Gaeron Kayley, redheaded Captain of the flight said: “I’ve always been proud of my natural red hair so it’s a real honour for me to pilot this special flight from Inverness to Amsterdam. The rest of the crew are redheads too and we are all really looking forward to welcoming many others on board as passengers. We hope everyone will enjoy the experience!”

Redhead Days is held this weekend, culminating in World Red Hair Day on Sunday.
