Head for the county at the end of March for the annual Discover Lincolnshire Weekend and enjoy free entry, activities and special offers at many of the area’s top attractions.
Part of English Tourism Week, from March 30-April 7, an annual celebration of English tourism across the country – this year’s fun-filled free weekend will take place on Saturday and Sunday, March 30-31
Attractions across Lincolnshire will offer free admission as part of the annual bargain bonanza event showcasing top tourist spots.
Highlights include free rides on Lincoln’s open-top tour bus, free guided tours of the grounds at award-winning Lincoln Castle as well as free entry to the magnificent Lincoln Cathedral and to Heckington Windmill, the UK’s only eight-sailed tower windmill with its sails intact.
Among special free tours led by expert guides is a chance to discover the history and heritage of Jewish Lincoln, through 1,000 years of history, while another aims to bring the Roman city of Lindum Colonia back to life, charting the 400 years of Lincoln as a Roman city.
Foodie fans are in for a treat too, with the weekend coinciding with the return of the popular Lincoln Street Food Festival (March 28-31), offering street food from around the world.
Elsewhere in the county, Manor House Stables – offering luxury self catering as well as craft and cookery courses and a small exhibition, near Woodhall Spa – will be opening its doors on 31 March for a themed ‘Lincolnshire in Wartime’ day exploring life at home and on the Front during both World Wars.
