Family fun: Get lost in the Horrible Histories maze at Warwick Castle

Warwick Castle is celebrating its 950th anniversary by offering £9.50 tickets. Families can visit between March 30 and April 15.

Easter brings sweet treats for budding historians and swashbuckling action fans. Rattus Rattus, the popular character from Horrible Histories, will meet and greet visitors as ‘William the Conqueror Rattus’.

The Conqueror’s Fortress – a new exhibition curated by Warwick Castle’s History Team – explores the history of William the Conqueror, inspiring Easter visitors to learn about the castle’s original fortifications and their evolution. For youngsters, a series of William the Conqueror Knight School sessions will be available, educating knights-in-training on sword skills and the art of battle.

Visitors can also enjoy the firing of The Mighty Trebuchet and Birds of Prey shows – both twice daily – in addition to exploring the Towers and Ramparts walk, offering a bird’s eye view of the castle’s grounds and nearby countryside, plus the Horrible Histories Maze.

The Princess Tower engages younger visitors with the legend of chivalrous Guy of Warwick and his true love, Princess Felice, whilst the Castle Dungeon provides gleefully grim fun (over 10 years only).
