A number of companies are offering discounts on half-term cottages for small and large families or groups of friends.

You can save up to £645 at Eaton Manor Country Estate in Shropshire with Premier Cottages. In 500 acres of beautiful countryside, Eaton Manor Country Estate offers luxurious, spacious accommodation in five cottages sleeping eight to 14 guests. Close to foodie Ludlow and the tranquil Welsh borders, the estate is also within easy reach of attractions such as Ironbridge Gorge, the Acton Scott Museum, numerous National Trust properties and walking, cycling and archery are on the doorstep.

A three-night break for up to 14 sharing costs £1,505, down from £2,150, for arrival on October 25.

Save £600 at Clydey Cottages in Pembrokeshire: Just one mile from the pretty village of Boncath and five miles from the stunning Pembrokeshire coast, the five properties at Clydey Cottages’ Fron Fawr site have been converted from traditional stone and slate barns. There is a children’s play area as well as a pétanque pitch and surrounding woodland to explore. Guests can also use of the leisure facilities at the main Clydey Cottages site just five miles away including: an indoor pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, spa treatment room and games room.

A week’s stay for up to eight guests sharing costs £1,400 – reduced from £2,000, for arrival on October 26.

Save up to £535 at Barsham Barns in Norfolk: Barsham Barns offers a collection of rural barn conversions in a tranquil valley close to the North Norfolk coast. The barns lie close to Wells-next-the-Sea. On site there is a spa/Jacuzzi pool for up to 10, with adjoining steam room that can be booked for exclusive use, and two games rooms.

Barsham Barns is offering £535 off a four-night stay in the Great East Barn during half term. A break for up to 14 guests sharing will cost £2,100, reduced from £2,635, for arrival on October 28. Alternatively, a four-night stay for up to 10 sharing Grey’s Court costs £1,300, reduced from £1,625 for arrival on October 28.

Cumbrian Cottages are highlighting a selection of half-term cottages including coastal cottages on the unspoilt Solway Firth and character properties in the heart of the Lake District.

For families looking for a seaside break, Rose Cottage is situated in the hamlet of Blitterlees, next to the Victorian seaside town of Silloth, with its wide uncrowded beaches and views across the water to the Scottish hills.

The single-storey cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms and also has a sitting room with large conservatory, dining room, kitchen, shower room and heated drying room. A lane alongside the property leads to a renowned golf course, across the dunes and down to the sandy beach. The Lake District is just a 30-minute drive away. A week from October 26 now costs £530, saving £90.

In the village of Glenridding is Mid Row Cottage, a traditional Lakeland property (sleeping four) in an enviable location on the fell side above the village. It enjoys superb views of Ullswater – the second largest lake in the Lake District – from its large garden and is just 400 yards from the nearest pub and the village amenities.

The cottage has a snug sitting room with open fire, kitchen/dining room, conservatory leading to decked area with superb views, two bedrooms, shower room and bathroom. Seven nights from October 26 now costs £600, saving £100.

For large families – or groups of friends – Riggs Cottage (sleeping eight) is a traditional 17th Lakeland cottage in a rural location at the northern end of Bassenthwaite Lake in Routenbeck. It also has a games room with snooker table and table tennis.

There are many walking and biking opportunities right from the door and the bustling market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth are only a short drive away. Seven nights from October 26 are now priced at £1120, saving £190.
