Head to the Venice Film Festival

Venice FIlm Festival

Cannes might be the film fest that gets everyone talking, but it’s the Venice Film Festival that gets tourists sighing thanks to both the amazing setting and the quality of films on offer.

This year sees the festival’s 70th anniversary with a stellar line up that includes Terry Gilliam’s new film The Zero Theorem and Stephen Frears’ Philomena starring Judy Dench and Steve Coogan. This year’s festival will be held on the island of Lido between August 28 and September 7, with screenings in the historic Palazzo del Cinema on the Lungomare Marconi, Casino, Sala Darsena and PalaBiennale.

It’s not too late to get to the world’s oldest film festival either… Citalia has a three night stay in Venice during the Festival from just £435 per person. The holiday, which departs September 3, includes return flights from Gatwick with Monarch and three nights B&B in the four-star Hotel Do Pozzi.

You can also do a twin-centre add on and visit nearby Lake Garda…  Three nights B&B at the Hotel Ca Fortuny in Venice and five nights half-board at the four star Hotel Piccolo Mondo in Lake Garda is from £859 per person, including five days car hire in Garda and flights from Gatwick.
