Iceland launches Northern Lights guarantee

Iceland has always been one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights – but the country now comes with a ‘guarantee’ that people will see the elusive phenomena.

This week has seen the launch of a new attraction in downtown  Reykjavik which uses the latest advances in multimedia technology to bring the Northern Lights to life.

Split into sections including information & photography, interactive & educational and the history of the lights, the centre’s focal point is the experience room which uses a large HD projection to immerse visitors in the Aurora Borealis’ green glow.

The Northern Lights are usually only visible during the winter, but the Aurora Reykjavik allows summertime travellers to get the best of both worlds and enjoy the ever glowing midnight sun before gazing at the lights.

The Aurora Reykjavik is open daily from 10am – 10pm. Ticket prices cost £9.50 for an adult ticket, £8.49 for a senior/student ticket and £5.80 for those aged 6-18. For more see www.aurorareykjavik.is.

To mark the launch, low cost airline Wow has launched a Northern Lights Weekend Treat tour. Priced from £224 per person for travel from September to December, the package includes a Northern Lights tour, Golden Circle tour, entry to the Blue Lagoon, three nights’ hotel accommodation with breakfast, transfers and return flights from London Gatwick.
