Jamaica already on Glasgow 2014 starting block!

Glasgow 2014

A fleet of 50 Jamaica-branded taxis have driven into Glasgow for the start of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The black cabs emblazoned with “JAMAICA Get All Right” will operate throughout the city until August 10.

They are advertising the Caribbean island – home of Olympic champion Usain Bolt – and showcasing Barrhead Travel’s special offer of all-inclusive holidays to Jamaica including flights from £795.

The Jamaica Tourist Board is holding a host of promotional events during the games, attended by Director of Tourism, Paul Pennicook and Minister of Tourism and Entertainment, the Hon Dr. Wykeham McNeill.

The number of holidaymakers from Scotland visiting Jamaica is set for a boost this winter with the start of Thomson Airways’ direct flights from Glasgow to Montego Bay from November until next March.

Elizabeth Fox, of Jamaica Tourist Board, said: “The staging of Jamaica House 2014 in Glasgow is all about championing our great island at a time when Jamaica’s sporting excellence looks set to dominate the Games. With great offers for holidays to Jamaica from Barrhead Travel and with the increased airlift from Scotland to Jamaica, thanks to Thomson Airways, there’s never been a better time to visit the island.”
