It’s OK, K.A.G.G.S was new to us too. But, according to Ski Weekends, more and more couples are taking short skiing breaks and leaving the kids with their grandparents. So the company is offering more midweek holidays – Monday to Thursday when the slopes are quieter – to the French Alps just two hours away. And they start from £300 with a trip to Les Gets (above).

Ski Weekends also have new chalets this year in Les Menuires and Courchevel 1650, and a multitude of hotels to suit everyone, from the mid-weekers to the weekenders. There are 25 new four and five-star hotels available including the four-star Hotel L’Héliopic in Chamonix (opening this December) which has a Jacuzzi overlooking Mont Blanc. Very nice! Prices start from £571 based on two sharing, and include flights, transfers and four nights half-board.

The Koh-I Nor is another new property,  set to be Europe’s highest five-star hotel, sitting at 2,364m and offering incomparable views of Val Thorens and the surrounding landscape, with natural light flooding in and a south-west facing panoramic terrace. Prices start from £848 based on two sharing, and include flights, transfers and four nights half-board.

Want a chalet? The newly refurbished, ski-in/ski-out Chalet Sapinière is in a little hamlet beside Les Menuires and sleeps 12. Prices start from £480 per person based on two sharing for four nights, and includes flights, transfers and half-board accommodation.

Ski Weekends has also introduces the options of private transfers and is increasing flights from the UK, with the addition of two new airports, Southampton and Southend.
