Virgin Trains has today started selling tickets for its latest destination – Sunderland. There will be a new daily return service to London King’s Cross from December 14.
They are also launching a new return service from Stirling to King’s Cross – both routes with early morning departures making them ideal for a day of business or leisure in London.
And from today they are adding another return service from Leeds to London on Saturdays – designed to appeal to people who want to visit the capital in the run-up to Christmas.
MD David Horne said: “This is a hugely exciting day for us as we move towards operating more services, and adding Sunderland to the Virgin rail map.
“The new services mark a major milestone in Virgin Trains’ ambitious plans to transform services on its East Coast route, which also includes £140m investment to deliver an improved service.”
The train will depart Sunderland at 5.40am, arriving in London just after 9am, returning at 8pm.
