The Norfolk Broads has topped a poll for the best British waterway on which to holiday.
The picturesque stretch of waters on the east coast pipped rival destinations such as the Heart of England according to boating holidays website www.waterwaysholidays.com.
The list of waterways was made at the Southampton Boat Show which began on Thursday last week and runs until this weekend.
“The Norfolk Broads are as popular as ever, and the Heart of England offers such variety that I’m not surprised at its popularity, but it’s great to see the Kennet & Avon Canal in the list for the first time,” said Waterways Holidays’ managing director Nigel Richards.
The top five water holidays destinations were:
1. Norfolk Broads
2. Heart of England
3. Llangollen Canal
4. Kennet & Avon Canal
5. Grand Union Canal
A three-night weekend on the Norfolk Broads this autumn costs from £471 for up to four people, while a week on the Llangollen Canal starts at £699 for four.
