Nottingham takes aim for Robin Hood fest

Robin Hood Fest

If you’re a fan of the second most famous man in tights (after Superman, of course), his town has a festival in his honour this Autumn. And Nottingham’s Robin Hood fest is just one of a number of events in the city celebrating the famed outlaw.

The Robin Hood Pageant takes place from October 26-27 at Nottingham Castle, the grounds of which will be transformed into a medieval village with  jousting, archery and medieval sports. Children can try their hands at medieval crafts, watch falconry and practice wood carving. Cost: Adults £8; Children £6; Family ticket £20. Click here for more

On September 29, the  Robin Hood Marathon & Half Marathon will take to the city street. The two races follow the same course for the first 11 miles before splitting. The relatively flat course takes in iconic sites along the way and there is a mini marathon and schools challenge over a 1.5 mile route along the River Trent. Click here to enter

From falconry to archery, jousting to fishing and all things in between, the Robin Hood Game & Country Show takes place at Newark Showground from October 5-6. There will be carnival rides, the Berkley Owls arena show, BMX stunt displays and a Viking re-enactment village. Cost: Adults £10; Concessions £8; Children £5 (or £7.50/£7/£2 if booked in advance online). Fancy a tipple? The Robin Hood Beer Festival is from October 9-12 and claims to have the world’s largest selection of real ales, ciders and perries. It takes place in Nottingham Castle. Cost: Tickets from £10. Click here for more
