Hotel review specialists Sawday’s release the 10th anniversary edition of their  Special Places Pubs & Inns of England & Wales tomorrow.

The book features 100 new finds, as well as Sawday pub award winners that are chosen for their  authenticity, community spirit, top notch rooms and fabulous food.

It features more than 950 of the country’s finest pubs – thriving locals, lovely old inns, fabulous gastropubs and hostelries of history, character and charm, all inspected and selected by Sawday’s.

Founder Alastair Sawday said: “It’s a milestone year for Sawday’s pubs.  Not only are we celebrating the 10th anniversary of our guide, our biggest to date, we’ve just released a pubs app and for the first time you can browse pubs on our Special Places to Eat & Drink website.”

Pubs with Rooms Awards in the guide go to:

  • The Swan, Swinbrook, Oxfordshire: “The Swan is everyone’s idea of the perfect country pub – cosy interconnecting rooms oozing elegant country charm, chickens in the garden, and six gorgeous bedrooms in the converted forge and barn.”
  • The Lion Inn, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire: “Determination has paid off in spades at The Red Lion, as it now thrives as a modern-day inn, combining its original old-world charm with contemporary comforts.”
  • The Red Lion, East Chisenbury, Wiltshire: “The Lion Inn is relaxed and unpretentious yet the food is Michelin starred, so foodies can savour sublime cooking and stay over in gorgeous contemporary rooms.”
