Tomorrow night’s episode features the changing landscape of East Africa – from  dense forest to snow-capped peaks and steamy swamps to the endless savannah’s that support large animals in numbers found nowhere else on earth.

Two of the savanahs highlighted include the Masai Mara and Amboseli.

The Masai Mara is one of the most iconic areas of Africa supporting an eco-system of critical importance. The area is home to a rich population of animal,s including lion, leopards, cheetahs and the famous annual migration of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle that cross the planes every September and October.

Amboseli is best known for its unrivalled views of Kilimanjaro and the local elephant population. There are more than 1,000 elephants in the park’s eco-system, featuring some of the largest in Africa. The beautiful dusty red savannah of Amboseli is also home to lions, cheetahs, giraffes, hyenas, wildebeest and many other species of plains game are plentiful.
