Three new ships and now another hotel for Branson

Sir Richard Branson has three cruise liners on the way and today he’s announced that he’s building another Virgin hotel – this time in Dallas, Texas.

The hotel should be open in 2018 on High Line Drive and Turtle Creek Boulevard, the heart of the Design District, and will feature more than 200 Chambers including Grand Chamber Suites.

The lifestyle hotel – just like Branson’s first Virgin Hotel in Chicago – will have a choice of restaurants including the brand’s flagship space, The Commons Club. Virgin Hotels Dallas will also have a rooftop terrace with pool, gym and spa.

Bill Hutchinson, founder of developer Dunhill Partners, said: “I could not have found a more perfect hotel for the Design District and everything it offers to the City of Dallas than Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Hotels. It will be the heartbeat of the hottest entertainment district and the biggest jewel in our crown.”

Virgin Hotels Chicago is getting great reviews and hotels in Nashville and New York are due to open next.

Virgin Cruises is expected to launch the first of three cruise liners in 2020, built by Italian shipbuilders Fincantieri. The others will follow in 2021 and 2022.

The 1,430-cabin ship carrying 2,800 passengers will sail out of Miami on seven-day cruises. Sir Richard, dressed in a captain’s uniform, said yesterday: “This is a very exciting day for Virgin and travellers around the globe. We now have the right partners in place to build a world-class cruise line that will redefine the cruising experience for good.

“The Virgin Cruises approach will appeal to cruisers and non-cruisers alike, and we look forward to being in Miami and delivering an experience for people who want a new way to cruise.”
