Gloucestershire vineyard launches winter winemaking tours

winemaking tours

A Gloucestershire vineyard has launched winter winemaking tours. The Three Choirs winery is offering walks among the vines for people to get a better insight into how English wines are made.

Winemakers will explain the harvesting process, including pruning techniques and why they are so vital to the crop’s health, before guests will head to the winery  for an explanation of the winemaking process plus the opportunity to view work in progress from this year’s harvest.

The tour climaxes with a wine tasting where staff will offer a better understanding of how to serve and drink different wines – a frequently asked question in the restaurant and on the daily tours.

Three Choirs chief winemaker Martin Fowke has twice been awarded UK winemaker of the year and has worked at vineyards from around the globe, including Australia and New Zealand.

The tours are held on the second and fourth Fridays of each month from now until March 2014 and tickets cost £19.50 per person.
