Gear up for the traffic jams: more than 40 per cent of us will be travelling  this easter, with a whopping third of us covering more than 200 miles to get to our destinations.

The survey of shoppers by Asda Travel, also showed that 58 per cent of those questioned said that spending quality time with family was their favourite aspect of the holiday season, beating lie-ins, eating chocolate and time off work to the top spot.

Of those travelling the distance at Easter, a whopping 62 per cent have said this is the first family get together since Christmas, giving. What’s more, an overwhelming number of those surveyed (56%) admitted they would be willing to travel more than three hours to be with the ones they loved.

With long car journeys looming for many families this Easter, Nick Cockerill from Asda Travel offers this advice; “Visiting friends and family over the Easter period is fantastic fun but long hours spent in the car are not. Keep the kids entertained by stocking up on puzzle books, games and music everyone can sing along to. Bringing plenty of healthy snacks and taking regular breaks along the way will also help keep spirits high and make travelling less of a chore.”
