Break it like Bond

Skyfall_02

While Skyfall (above) may have had us all excited last year, the prospect of a new James Bond novel in 2013, the 60th year since the spy books were launched is leaving aficionados shaken and stirred.

The book, provisionally titled The New Mission, is set for release in September, but you don’t have to wait that long for a bit of Bond action.

Holiday company DialAFlight is suggesting a trip to Venice, where many classic Bond scenes were filmed, from 007’s gondola being transformed into a hovercraft in Moonraker to the charming Venetian buildings much like the one that sunk in Casino Royale. For a real taste of ‘00heaven’, indulge in a city break at the 14th century palace, Hotel Danieli. The location of Dr Goodhead’s suite in Moonraker (costing €10,000 a night), this lavish hotel features gold leaves, chandeliers and antiques with impressive deluxe rooms available without the Bond price tag.

DialAFlight has three nights at the Danieli from £899 per person, including flights from London with BA.
