About the Dead Sea

  • The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth, 417m below sea level
  • The quantity of water that evaporates from it is greater than that which flows into it making it have the highest concentration of salt in the world (340 grams per litre of water).
  • Its name comes from the fact that the salinity means there are no life forms in the sea.
  • The salt is said to have many healing properties for conditions such as psoriasis and osteoarthritis
