Easter narrowboat prices slashed

You can save 20 per cent during the school holidays on a narrowboat holiday. Waterways Holidays is offering the discount on all boats hired from the base at Congleton on the Macclesfield Canal in Cheshire before June 1.

A week’s hire during the Easter holidays, between March 30 and April 15, of either ‘Hazelhurst’ or ‘Bosley’ – both 44ft narrowboats sleeping four, complete with well equipped galley and full central heating with radiators – now costs £696 (saving £173). Or a short break – three nights at a weekend or four nights’ midweek – at this time is reduced to £472 (saving £117).

If you want the summer, there’s a 15 per cent discounts on holidays completed between July 26 and September 2. The cost of seven nights’ hire of ‘Hazelhurst’ or ‘Bosley’ is £1,020 (saving £179). Bookings must be made by March 31. Prices include all fuels (diesel and gas), bed linen, helmsman’s waterproofs, car parking and tuition on arrival. In addition, up to two well behaved pets are welcome at a cost of £30 each.

From the Congleton, you can cruise to the end of the Caldon Canal in a seven-night break and spend a full day at Alton Towers which is just a taxi journey away. Other options include cruising through picturesque countryside along the Macclesfield & Peak Forest Canals or along the Trent & Mersey Canal.
