Barkin’ or what?

Now, I loved my dog when it was alive. Called Corrie by the way, after Coronation Street! But I never went on holiday and Skyped my pooch while away or took a picture of her in my suitcase.

But evidently a lot of people do. A Thomas Cook survey shows that Brits really are barking mad. A poll of 2,000 people found that one in three phone or e-mail home to check on their pets, one in 20 Skype or speak down the phone to their furry friend and one in 10 take a photo with them on holiday. Thirteen per cent of people said they took their pets with them on holiday – 100,000 Brits now have passports.

The results in Thomas Cook’s first Holiday Monitor of 2013 are actually good news for the holiday company, which has sadly just announced 2,500 job cuts and the closure of hundreds of high street travel agencies. They sell lots of £6 ‘Pet Plane’ chew toys for dogs on their planes which will help put a bit of cash in the coffers!
