Britain's most romantic bedroom

Is this Britain’s most romantic bedroom? It’s pricey but your loved one won’t forget this night in a hurry – sleeping under the stars in a luxury, romantic alfresco boudoir.

De Vere Slaley Hall, which boasts 1,000 acres of beautiful Northumberland moorland, has custom built the bedtime retreat in the hotel’s Victorian Grotto, set in the tranquil Japanese gardens.

At check-in, you will be greeted with a champagne afternoon tea, while final preparations to the room are put into place.  As twilight arrives you’ll sit down to a sumptuous three-course dinner, before relaxing under the starry sky as a personal butler serves a nightcap, warmed by a toasty wood burning fire pit.

When it’s time to snuggle under the stars, your butler will be on hand. And he’ll be around all night – not that close, of course! But with just the ring of a bell, he’ll stir the warming embers of the fire or replace hot water bottles. Next morning, you’ll be served a lavish private breakfast in the garden.

The Sleeping Under the Stars package can be booked from July 14 for every weekend in August (subject to availability). What’s the damage? Prices start at £1,150 per couple per night.
