The Greek island enjoys mild winters with temperatures from 15-18C by day and an average of five to six hours sunshine. That compares to 6-8C and one or two hours of sun a day in London!

A half-board stay at the four-star Aloe Hotel in Paphos this winter costs from £639 per person for 28 nights (around £23 a day) and £1,195 for eight weeks (around £21 per person per day). This includes return flights from Gatwick, transfers to the hotel, a standard room for twin share, breakfast each morning and dinner each evening.
The hotel is a 15-20 minute stroll along the waterfront to the centre of Paphos. There are 272 rooms, a heated indoor pool, tennis courts, a games room and health club with gym, sauna and Jacuzzi.
