Month’s winter holiday in Cyprus for £23 a day!

Winter holiday

Cyprus is a top destination for a long-stay winter holiday and here’s a great offer – stay a month in a four-star hotel on half-board for £23 a day. Bed down for two months and it’s just £21 a day! Could be cheaper than freezing at home.

The Greek island enjoys mild winters with temperatures from 15-18C by day and an average of five to six hours sunshine. That compares to 6-8C and one or two hours of sun a day in London!

And because Cyprus is not simply a holiday destination, but supports an entire range of Cypriot industries and businesses, the island doesn’t shut down over winter so shops and services, from post offices and cafes to clothes shops and banks. Another bonus is that everyone speaks English and drives on the left. And not only is the EHIC medical card scheme valid in Cyprus, the country has a first-world healthcare infrastructure that means peace of mind for older travellers.

Long-stay holidaymakers can keep fit with daily walks along the ‘prom’ in their resort, or play golf, tennis or bowls – several hotels have extensive sports facilities available to non-residents out of season.

A half-board stay at the four-star Aloe Hotel in Paphos this winter costs from £639 per person for 28 nights (around £23 a day) and £1,195 for eight weeks (around £21 per person per day). This includes return flights from Gatwick, transfers to the hotel, a standard room for twin share, breakfast each morning and dinner each evening.

The hotel is a 15-20 minute stroll along the waterfront to the centre of Paphos. There are 272 rooms, a heated indoor pool, tennis courts, a games room and health club with gym, sauna and Jacuzzi.
