With a name like On the Beach, then you’d probably expect the holiday company to say that Brits will prefer building sandcastles than snowmen this Christmas! But, with the rain lashing down causing flooding throughout the UK, they could be right.
Bookings to the most popular hotspots are up 160 per cent year on year with the Canaries No1 choice, followed by Egypt, Portugal, the Spanish Costas and Malta. On the Beach MD Alistair Daly said: “As the weather in the UK seems to go from bad to worse, it’s great to see Brits making the most of the great value holidays available over the Christmas period.”
Of those leaving the UK behind, 42 per cent are couples and just over a quarter are families with young children compared to six per cent with teenagers.
