Record number flee British weather

Algarve

A record number of Brits will escape the miserable UK weather to spend Easter overseas with breaks to Tenerife and Sharm El Sheikh top choices, says lowcostholidays.com who will be sending more than 25,000 people away over the holiday week.

Other destinations proving popular include the Algarve (above), Majorca, Costa Blanca, Mexico and Florida. For those who can’t take a week away from work, city breaks are also big sellers with Barcelona and Marrakech most popular as short break destinations with a cultural flavour.

Deputy MD Matt Hall said, “Searches for Easter holidays are up over 153% compared to last year. Over 25,000 holidaymakers are travelling with lowcostholidays.com over the Easter week to find some welcome warmth and sunshine. There are still some last minute deals to be snapped up including seven nights in a three-star all-inclusive hotel in the Algarve from Stansted on March 31 from just £285 per person but these are selling quickly.”

The latest prices from lowcostholidays.com show a seven-night self-catering holiday in Majorca at a three-star hotel from £152 per person including flights from Stansted on April 2 and two nights at a four-star hotel in Barcelona with flights from Stansted on March 30 from £264 per person.
