Wow, we’re in for a bright end to 2013. NASA is predicting that the Northern Lights will be spectacular again next season. They have just been at their best for 50 years but the Aurora Borealis will double peak and give a similar amazing display at the turn of the year.

Discover the World has reacted to the news by launching Northern Lights’ holidays early. Here’s a selection of packages:

Northern Lights at Abisko and ICEHOTEL, Sweden: Abisko National Park has some of the clearest skies in the auroral zone and is one of the best locations in the world to observe the Northern Lights. Then spend two nights at ICEHOTEL, in the picturesque village of Jukkasjärvi, Swedish Lapland. There’s a fantastic choice of excursions, from a Northern Lights Husky Safari to a Snowmobile Tour. The three-night break costs from £1,281 per person including flights from Heathrow between December 14 and March 15.
