Prepare for take-off as Drayton Manor Theme Park is getting a new £1.2m thrill ride this summer.

Air Race will take riders on a stomach-churning aerial adventure, turning their world upside down at a height of up to eight metres.

Taking up to 24 riders in six, four-seater aeroplanes, ‘pilots’ will experience accelerations of almost 4G as they board the acrobatic aeroplane flight.

You will take your seat preparing for take-off, gliding from side to side at increasing heights while circling around the control tower. Before long, a series of gravity defying barrel rolls in both directions will have you soaring and diving throughout the air. With banks, loops, dives and weightlessness to test even the most experienced thrill seekers, it promises to be the flight of your life.

The ride will land this summer, in time for the school holidays and the park’s busiest time of the year. It will complete the line-up of exciting rides in the Action Park area of the attraction, alongside thrill-seeker favourites Maelstrom, G-Force and Europe’s only stand-up rollercoaster, Shockwave.

MD Colin Bryan said: “Adding a new thrill ride to the park is always an exciting occasion, and Air Race is a fantastic addition that is sure to be loved by adults and children alike.”

Drayton Manor Theme Park, near Tamworth, Staffs, also has Europe’s only Thomas Land attraction, home to 21 rides. It also boasts a stunning 4D cinema, as well as a 15-acre zoo which has more than 100 different species.
