YourHols wouldn’t normally send you off to stay in a shack but these are a little bit special. Woodland Shacks are six original, hand-crafted, timber hideaways on a 20,000 acre estate, near Masham, in the Yorkshire Dales. The Shacks, which sleep seven, are spread out around the edge of the woodland with sweeping views across the valley and moorland, which you can enjoy from the privacy of your veranda. Everything from handmade and up-cycled items, wood burning stoves and antique rocking chairs add to their rustic charm. At the heart of the site is Bivouac Café, where you can savour delicious local produce. If you want to really indulge yourself, take a dip in the al fresco hot tub, set in the fringes of the trees near the Shacks with panoramic views over the Dales. On site you can take part in bread-making workshops, arts and crafts, wine-tasting, music events at the cafe, forest school, dry stone walling, pizza making, foraging, wood carving, sculpture and many other activities. The site is also home to eight canvas yurts, burrowed into the hillside and resting on individual platforms.
